The CME Group pits reopened for business Wednesday in Chicago after Hurricane Sandy forced the New York exchanges to shut down for two days.
The S&P opened at 1412.00, with an early high of 1414.50, and a recent low of 1402.70.
The NYSE asked more than 200 floor locals to come to the floor for trading Wednesday, in case of technical problems with electronic trading. The floor of the CME Group looked like it was business as usual Wednesday, but the NYSE reported volume of only 240 million, which is low.
The S&P needs to back and fill if it is going to head back up.

Joey “Joey B” Borsellino makes the most of the markets reopening on Wednesday in the S&P Futures Pit at the CME Group.
